Corporate social responsibility program aims to make a difference
through the power of footwear for those in need around the world
NIWOT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2012--
Crocs,
Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX) is celebrating its fifth year of giving back
through the company’s corporate social responsibility program, Crocs
Cares℠. The program, launched in 2007, seeks to provide happy and
healthy feet to children and families around the world. Since its
inception, Crocs Cares℠ has donated more than three million pairs of
shoes to communities in need in more than 40 countries around the world.
This equates to more than one pair of shoes donated each minute.
“Giving back has always been an important part of the Crocs culture, and
something we greatly value as an organization,” said John McCarvel,
Crocs president and chief executive officer. “We are proud of the
difference we have made through Crocs Cares during the past five years,
but recognize that our work is far from over. We look forward to
expanding our efforts in future years to continue to help those in need.”
Crocs proudly partners with a variety of global non-profit
organizations, including Feed The Children, UNICEF, Brothers Brother
Foundation, World Emergency Relief and Global Aid Network, to help ship
and distribute shoes to those in need, both abroad and within the U.S.
The company also works with a number of local organizations around the
world to help identify and coordinate local shoe donations. Many of
these organizations consider Crocs™ shoes a ‘perfect shoe’ for those in
developing parts of the world and following natural disasters because
they are lightweight, don’t absorb water and provide basic protection
from harsh environmental elements.
“Crocs has been a valued partner for Feed The Children for a number of
years, and the difference their donations make in the lives of children
is immeasurable,” said Feed The Children spokesperson Tony Sellars. “The
shoes they provide around the world help protect the foot from
infections and diseases that rob children of vital nutrients.
Domestically, the gift of Crocs shoes allows parents to provide a basic
need for their children that they might otherwise be unable to afford.”
The latest Crocs Cares℠ initiative is a holiday donation program with
Feed The Children, asking consumers to help give back to those less
fortunate this holiday season. Crocs Cares℠ will donate a pair of shoes
to children and families in need, up to 10,000 pairs, for every donation
made to Feed The Children at checkout in Crocs stores through December
31, 2012, and online through January 15, 2013. Additional information
about the Crocs Cares℠ holiday donation program can be found at www.crocscares.com/feedthechildren.
